House of Oak & Sofas in Harrisonburg, VA has built its reputation selling furniture that is on the high end of quality standards. We began by selling only Ohio Amish-crafted solid wood furniture, and although we now sell all types of furniture built in a dozen different countries, our goal is to find furniture to sell that offers the same exceptional value that the Amish furniture does.
For instance, one of our top selling brands is Flexsteel. An American company, based in Dubuque, Iowa, Flexsteel is over one hundred years old, invented a unique spring system that never breaks, and builds high-quality sofas and recliners that we really enjoy selling. Like any good product, once a customer takes their Flexsteel purchase home, we know from experience that sofa will start selling more sofas. Flexsteel customers are satisfied customers. They tell their friends about their satisfaction, and House of Oak & Sofas is only too happy to sell them quality furniture as well.
We often tell customers that the Amish build their furniture like they build their barns. They simply over-build the quality products. Where many manufacturers calculate how little wood they can use in a piece of furniture, Amish crafted furniture has evolved over hundreds of years where skilled woodworkers figured out which joints held up best, what size spindles would not break, and what type fasteners, and glue would keep the furniture together. Many Amish-crafted pieces are expected to last for a generation or more.
In this age of cheap imports, we like to educate our customers about the importance of spending a little more, and getting furniture that will last 3-4 times as long. Too often furniture is purchased looking at price only. In fact, a beginning salesperson often assumes that is the only feature the customer looks at. In our store we assume that you don't necessarily want to compromise. We assume you come to our store because you know we sell value and quality.
