Amish Chair - Short Bentback Chair

SHORT BENTBACK CHAIR: The short bent back chair combines the enduring Windsor bowback with a bent slat that is kind to the lower back. Chairs with bent lumbar slats are the best selling Amish-crafted chairs. This feature can be found in the Windsor bowback style here, either tall back or short, and also in the mission-style chair. Although the popularity of the Windsor bowback is slowing along with the overall decline of country and traditional styles, the chair will remain a steady standby due to the reliability of the Windsor construction. The fact that the steam-bent bow comes forward from the spindle 4-5 inches where it is fastened to the seat, means that the design needs no further post brackets to reinforce the back. We have sold thousands of Windsor style chairs, including commercial applications where chairs receive rough use, and the chair continues to be reliable. Of course, as always, wood and stain choice make these chairs commonsense companions to furniture you already own.
Amish Chairs: Our Amish chairs are available as either side chairs (without arms) or arm chairs (with arms). Our Amish furniture can be stained in a variety of colors. All stains, which serve only to color the wood, are protected with several coats of clear satin lacquer. The most popular finish is golden oak. Probably 90% of our furniture is sold in the golden stain. Many Amish chairs are available in cherry wood: some are available in hickory or maple wood as well.
